Top-scoring saunas
Scores come from published specs, not hands-on tests. These are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you buy, and it never changes a score. Drawings show each sauna's shape, not the product itself.

Filters only hide saunas. They never change a score or the order.
Budget over $20,000? Made-to-order designer saunas sit in their own luxury class, scored only against each other, so they aren't mixed into these results.
Why other saunas were left out
Sauna Matchup
Scores come from published specs, not hands-on tests. Pick what matters to you, then share it with whoever you're deciding with.
How Matchup scores
- Construction & durability indicators. Published wall thickness only: ½ in scores 0 and 1½ in or more scores 10. Wood species isn't scored.
- Value. The sauna's other category scores at our default weights, per $1,000 of price, placed on a 2 to 10 scale against similar saunas: the same heating family and setting, or just the family when fewer than three share both.
- Heating. Infrared: full spectrum 10 and far infrared 8, plus published maximum temperature (130 °F scores 0, 170 °F scores 10). Traditional and hybrid: published maximum temperature (150 °F scores 0, 195 °F scores 10) and heater power per seat (3 kW a seat or more scores 10).
- Warranty & support. Cabinet warranty years, averaged with heater years where the listing gives them. Lifetime counts as 10 years.
- Installation. How easy the power is: standard outlet, then a dedicated 120V 20A circuit, then a 240V plug-in, then hardwired. It's scored on a 4 to 10 scale against similar saunas, so traditional saunas aren't marked down for needing 240V.
- Features. Not scored. A longer feature list isn't a better sauna.
- Appearance (editorial). Not rated yet. We'll rate looks only after seeing each sauna in person or in owner photos, and we'll label it as opinion.
- Space & capacity. Seats against your group size (or the seat count, if you haven't given one), and floor area per seat: 4 sq ft a seat scores 0, 10 sq ft or more scores 10.
- Missing data. If at least half of saunas with the same heating type publish a spec and this one doesn't, it scores zero, so a sauna can't rank higher by publishing less. If fewer than half publish it, it's left out and its weight is shared among the other categories.
- Commission is not an input. Every sauna here is sold by one of our affiliate partners, and what each pays never moves a score. Affiliate data lives in a separate system the scoring code never reads.
Fit Check
Enter your space once and we'll check every sauna in our catalog against its published dimensions, your ceiling, your doorway and your wiring.
Where a maker publishes clearances we use them. Otherwise we assume 3 in at the sides and back and 6 in above, and mark the clearance as not verified.
Fit Check is a preliminary screening aid. Confirm clearances and installation requirements with the manufacturer or your installer before you buy. Fitting the footprint doesn't mean a location is safe or ready to install. Floors, ventilation, moisture, foundations and electrical work all need checking, and a licensed electrician must confirm any wiring.
True Cost Calculator
Prices are verified from the seller. Everything else is an estimate you control. We leave installation lines blank until you add a quote, because we won't guess what work in your home costs.
Minutes include warm-up. Electricity is a conservative estimate: we multiply by the full rated wattage, but heaters cycle off once hot, so most owners pay less. The default 18¢ per kWh is close to the U.S. average residential rate (EIA, June 2026). Check your bill for your real rate. Every figure other than price and listed shipping is your estimate, not a quote.

Recall check: none of our 125 saunas is in the September 2026 CPSC sauna recall. Check another brand
On 17 Sept 2026 the CPSC announced a recall of about 41,580 infrared and hybrid saunas sold under Finnleo, Tylo, Helo, Radiant Health, Saunatec, Tylohelo and Sauna360 for infrared panels that can short circuit and overheat. Remedy: stop using it and get a free in-home repair. Read the CPSC notice (recall 26-784).
The model is on the brand badge on the front frame, the control panel or the manual. Sauna360 confirms individual units by serial number, found under the lower bench or on the wall under the upper bench.

Why Cedar Scout?
Buying guides
How we rank
Independent by design. Cedar Scout evaluates saunas on your needs and on documented product information. Affiliate relationships do not influence which saunas appear, their match scores or their rankings.
Three kinds of score, kept separate
- Spec score (out of 100). Shown on every spec sheet. It rates the published specs at our default Matchup weights, compared with similar saunas. It's the same for every visitor.
- Finder match score. Shown in Your Cedar Scout Best Fits™. It measures how well a sauna fits your answers: space, power, budget, type and priorities. It changes with your answers.
- Matchup score. Shown in Sauna Matchup. It rates the same specs as the spec score, but with the weights you choose.
Specs themselves (size, price, wiring, warranty) are shown as the seller publishes them, with a link to the source. Recalls are checked separately against CPSC announcements and shown on each spec sheet; they aren't part of any score.
1. Rule out what can't work
Finder results drop saunas that don't fit your floor or ceiling, need power you don't have, seat too few, are the wrong type or setting, or cost more than 10% over your budget (any amount over, if you set a hard limit). Each one is listed with the reason.2. Score what's left
Your finder match score weighs budget 20, physical fit 20, sauna type 20, electrical ease 15, your priorities 15, and warranty and evidence 10. You can change these weights.3. Missing data is shown, not guessed
Where a maker publishes clearances we use its figure. Where it doesn't, we assume 3 in at the sides and back and 6 in above, and say so. A sauna with no published size stays in your results, marked as needing a fit check.4. Commission is not an input
We cover saunas sold by our affiliate partners, and what each one pays never changes a score. Affiliate details are kept in a separate system that the scoring code never reads, and automated tests confirm this before every update goes live. Each spec sheet says how the seller relates to us.5. What we haven't tested
We haven't tested any of these saunas in person. Scores come from published specs. Appearance isn't rated yet, and we don't publish durability or satisfaction ratings we can't back up.6. How we earn
When you buy through a "Get yours" link, the seller may pay us a commission. It never changes which saunas pass, their scores or their order, and no partnership buys placement. We're just here to match you with the right sauna for your home.Methodology change log
31 Oct 2026, wording only. The Matchup explanation now matches the v1.2 code. It used to describe wood species, feature counts, seat density and indoor or outdoor installation as scored, but v1.1 removed those. The method page no longer says recalled saunas are filtered out, because recalls are flagged separately. No score or ranking changed.
v1.3, 31 Oct 2026, new luxury class (owner-approved). Added 9 ThermaSol saunas, $21,276 to $75,028, in a new luxury class. Luxury-class saunas are scored only against each other, and they stay out of the finder, the home page picks, the catalog rankings and our shortlists. They have their own luxury guide. No other sauna's score, category or order changed. Luxury-class scores can't be compared with scores outside the class.
31 Oct 2026, catalog. Added 15 SunRay saunas sold by Topture, each read from its listing that day. They are scored by the same unchanged rules, and no existing sauna's score or category moved.
31 Oct 2026, price. SaunaKits.com lowered the Dynamic Cordoba Elite 2-Person from $2,399 to $2,199. Its value score rose, taking its overall score from 68 to 70. The scoring rules did not change, and no other sauna's score moved.
31 Oct 2026, display only. Finder results gained filters for wood, installation and listed features, and a "Best alternative" label. Filters only hide saunas from view. No score, rule or order changed.
v1.2, 30 Oct 2026. When most saunas of the same kind publish a spec (warranty, heat, size or wall thickness) and one doesn't, that category now scores zero for it instead of being left out. A sauna can no longer rank higher by publishing less.
v1.1, 30 Oct 2026. A sauna with no published size is no longer ruled out; it's marked for a fit check. If you're not sure what power you have, saunas are no longer marked down for needing more; we flag an electrician check instead. Installation and value are now compared within similar saunas (infrared or traditional, indoor or outdoor), so traditional saunas aren't penalized for needing 240V. Wood species and the number of listed features no longer count toward scores. Space now rewards room per seat, not more seats per square foot. Where a maker publishes clearances, Fit Check uses them. Finder weights moved from budget 25 and priorities 10 to 20 and 15.
v1.0, Oct 2026. First published method.
Any future change to how we score or rank will be listed here with its date.
